What colours look good with a tartan sofa?
Just bought my first home ( and I just retired) and the existing wall colours are bloody awful ( tan) and my sofa is an olive/burgundy/gold plaid. I already know that my kitchen will be yellow with a blue & yellow plaid wallpaper on one wall. Now I need help choosing a colour for my living room. Any suggestions from you fabulous Brits?
Something quite neutral like a beige or a cream colour. White might be a bit cold. You could pick one of the sofa colours, maybe the green, for one wall. But keep it plain, a tartan sofa would only work if it is a focal point - you can't really have other patterns as well or it would be too much. You could add more colour with plain cushions. Like the previous answer said, burgundy would be good.
